April 2007

Dear Colleagues:
The World Conference in Seoul is coming closer. A very exciting scientific program has been scheduled and more than 1200 abstracts have recently been reviewed for presentations. The IASLC election has started and all the IASLC members are encouraged to give their votes for new members of the Board of Directors. Our journal, Journal of Thoracic Oncology, was recently approved and included in PUBMED, which should encourage all the members to submit manuscripts to JTO. IASLC Election 2007 Ballots for the 2007 election of new officers will be posted and the electronic website is open from April 26 until May 25, 2007. It will be possible to vote both electronically or by mail. World Conference to Draw International Media Journalists from around the world will gather at the upcoming 12th World Conference on Lung Cancer, where the IASLC will showcase research in a robust press program, providing access to leading lung cancer experts and breakthrough clinical trials. The press program will feature a number of selected, newsworthy abstracts that show great promise, bringing the latest issues in lung cancer staging, detection, diagnosis and treatment to the lay audience and medical community. Lead investigators will be invited to participate in panel discussions to present study results to attending media. Please direct all media inquires or press-related questions to Kellie Hotz at
