IASLC Newsletter - April 2018
Miss #ELCC18? Catch Up on Social Media!
Earlier this month over 2,100 delegates attended the 2018 European Lung Cancer Congress in Geneva, Switzerland (April 11 – 14). The conference was organized by the IASLC and ESMO, in partnership with ESTRO, ESTS and ETOP.
Conference attendees were also granted access to the 5th ESO Lung Cancer Observatory, where speakers including Fredrik Johansson (a young patient with lung cancer) outlined issues they hoped would be addressed in the lung field in 2019. During the course of the conference over 2,000 tweets created nearly 7 million impressions from over 500 participants. The average number of tweets per participant was 4. Numbers were up compared with 2017, which was great to see. Participants also engaged with Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, further increasing the global reach of #ELCC18. Those contributing through social media channels included (amongst others) oncologists, pulmonologists, scientists and pathologists - as well as cancer societies and pharma.
If you would like to find out what happened at the ELCC or where you ranked in mentions, impressions or the new Healthcare Social Graph® Score, check out #ELCC18 on www.symplur.com. (Don’t forget to select the appropriate dates at the bottom of the page.) IASLC members can also access the #ELCC18 virtual library at https://library.iaslc.org/.

Lung Cancer Awareness Month (LCAM) 2018
The Lung Cancer Awareness Month Coalition (LCAMC) is working on coordinating and maximizing our efforts to reach our goals for this year, which include further developing our campaign's website, building on the success of donated ad space and continuing to leverage support from our partners, sponsors and the IASLC.
The LCAM website is a year-round resource to read stories of those affected by lung cancer. The lung cancer community can participate by submitting personal stories to be included in the site. You can also sign up on the site to receive email updates about its continuing development and follow the campaign on Facebook and Twitter feeds specifically devoted to the campaign.
