Connecting with the IASLC
IASLC Communications Committee
The IASLC is actively expanding its activities on social media and now has an online presence on a number of different platforms. IASLC social media activities play an important role in the promotion of the IASLC’s mission, as well as serving as a means to bring together the global IASLC community.
Channels include Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn. Further channels may be added in the near future. These channels serve to highlight member activities, promote advocacy and education events, and cover IASLC-related events such as publications, meetings and webinars. Social media engagement rates are increasing and a case in point is #WCLC2016. During the conference, 3.5 billion impressions were created, and the hashtag trended on Twitter each day of the conference. Please note that the hashtag for this year’s meeting is #WCLC2017. IASLC members are encouraged to join in the conversation, using their social media platform of choice.
The IASLC also serves as a partner for Lung Cancer Awareness Month (#LCAM), with more information available on Twitter (@LCAM_org) and www.lcam.org. Additionally, the official IASLC journal, the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, also provides information on thoracic malignancies through its twitter handle: @JTOonline.
July 2017: The IASLC and the Journal of Thoracic Oncology (JTO) are pleased to present the Editor's Choice each month to highlight certain articles of interest. The articles below from the July 2017 issue of the JTO are free for three months. Please share with your colleagues around the globe!

The IASLC Committee Self-Nomination
The IASLC seeks a highly competent and active pool of members to serve as volunteers on its organizational committees. IASLC committees contribute significantly to the effective operation and development of IASLC programs. Committee membership typically represents a broad geographical spectrum and a multidisciplinary perspective. Committee members are recommended by the President of the IASLC and are approved by the Board of Directors. View additional important details on the self-nomination process.
Active, qualified members may nominate themselves for committees of interest by filling out this form.
Lung Cancer Awareness Month 2017 Campaign - July Update
The IASLC is finalizing plans for LCAM 2017. In early July, we had a collaborative call to discuss the 2016 LCAM Feedback Survey and how we will expand activities in 2017. By creating focus groups, we aim to gain momentum for November. The goal is to provide information to hospitals through coordinated media campaigns and more international opportunities.
The LCAM website is a year-round resource to read and submit stories of those affected by lung cancer. The lung cancer community can participate by submitting personal stories to be included in the site. You can sign up on the site to receive email updates about its continuing development and follow the campaign on Facebook and Twitter feeds specifically devoted to the campaign.
If your organization would like to be a LCAM 2017 partner, please contact Kristin.Schultz@iaslc.org.
