Time to Get Social at #WCLC2017
IASLC Communications Committee
The upcoming IASLC 18th World Conference on Lung Cancer (#WCLC2017) will bring together over 6,000 participants from across the globe. The meeting is a scientific and educational event where more than 2,000 abstracts will be presented. There are many ways to keep up to date during the conference, including daily press conferences, press releases and newspaper, as well as social media channels. Relevant conference updates will be shared on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram. If you are on these channels, please join in and get social! Remember to include the conference's official hashtag, #WCLC2017, and #LCSM or #Mesothelioma as appropriate. There will be a number of ‘Tweet walls’ throughout the venue displaying tweets in real time. Social media provides a valuable tool for those in concurrent sessions or for those of us who are unable to attend the meeting. Twitter transcripts containing #WCLC2017 can be generated on www.symplur.com.
Feeling a bit overwhelmed or frightened at the prospect of social media? If so, come by and find out more at the IASLC Social Media Booth, located directly off the elevator on the third floor foyer of the conference center. Tutorials and help setting up social media accounts will be provided by the IASLC's staff and experienced members. You will also be able to take a picture in front of a backdrop of Mt. Fuji. While taking a picture, you will have the option to hold a small flag of your respective country or a sign that displays your reason for attending the conference or personal research interests. We encourage you to also come by and pin your country-of-origin to our world map, an act which helps demonstrate the global partnerships that constitute the IASLC and contribute strongly in the fight against lung cancer.
September and October 2017: The IASLC and the Journal of Thoracic Oncology (JTO) are pleased to present the Editor's Choice each month to highlight certain articles of interest. The articles below from the September and October 2017 issue of the JTO are free for three months. Please share with your colleagues around the globe!
