Latin American Lung Cancer Conference 2016
Countries around the world come together during November for Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
To help raise awareness, the IASLC put together Fact Sheets with important lung cancer information. We encourage all our members to use these in the future when you get questions about lung cancer. You can see them at www.iaslc.org/lcam. Please continue to check this website during November, as we will add more resources throughout.
In addition, the IASLC is participating in a Twitter chat on Nov. 19 at noon MST, answering questions about science and research. We encourage you to particpate by using the hashtag #lcsm (lung cancer social media).
The IASLC is also hosting a Lung Cancer Awareness Forum for health professionals, patients and advocates at our office on Nov. 23. The hope is that each attendee will share a story that highlights their experience with lung cancer. We encourage all our members to host similar gatherings during the month of November to bring health professionals and patients together outside the exam room.
If you host any events or programs for Lung Cancer Awareness Month during November, please tell us so we can publicize it on our website and encourage participation.
Additionally, we encourage you to take pictures with lung cancer patients and you can either email them to us (send them to Jeff.Wolf@iaslc.org), or publish them on social media yourself using the hashtag #thisislungcancer.

Elsevier to Provide Share Link for JTO Authors
Recently accepted manuscripts are being transmitted to the new publisher of JTO, Elsevier, in anticipation of the January 2016 publication, the first by Elsevier. A feature that Elsevier provides for authors is a Share Link to their newly-published article on ScienceDirect.
The link provides free access to the article for 50 days. After that, the usual access rules apply. Users clicking on the Share Link within the 50-day period will be taken directly to the article with no sign up or registration required. Share Links are ideal for sharing via email and social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and ResearchGate. Authors will automatically receive the Share Link at the final citable publication stage of the article. If several authors are listed, the named corresponding author will receive the Share Link which can then be shared with co-authors.

The inaugural IASLC International Mentorship Award program was a huge success. Thirteen candidates were selected from around the world to attend the WCLC and to spend a week afterward with a distinguished IASLC Mentor. The collaboration between U.S. and international doctors was outstanding and many mentees found the experience transformative for their careers. We congratulate the following Mentorship Award winners and give a huge thanks to our IASLC Mentors.

There is an excellent accompanying editorial by Dr. Jessica S. Donington: "Survival After Sublobar Resection Versus Lobectomy for Clinical Stage IA Lung Cancer: Analysis From the National Cancer Database."
The final manuscript by Weissfeld and coworkers uses a genome wide association study to evaluate lung cancer risk prediction.
