Terms and Conditions
Section 1: Applying for Membership
Applications for membership may be submitted by any individuals who are eligible for membership as detailed in the IASLC Bylaws. When submitting an application for membership, you agree to adhere to the terms and conditions of membership and the bylaws of IASLC. If you are eligible for membership, your membership will be activated in the appropriate member category after acceptance of your application and payment of the membership fee.
IASLC retains the right to amend its membership categories, benefits and criteria at its sole discretion, without prior notice, at any time. However, any details of such amendments will be posted on the IASLC Website. Please refer to the Membership section of the IASLC Website for details. IASLC retains the right to refuse applications for membership but will offer the opportunity to appeal the decision.
Section 2: Payment of Membership Dues
Payment of membership dues is required at the time the application is completed. Once your membership in IASLC is activated, the membership renewal payment will be due on January 1st of each year for as long as you remain a member. In advance of the date your membership will expire, you will receive a notification either via postal mail and/or email and a request for payment of the membership fee. You will continue to receive notices until you complete your renewal, or your membership is terminated. (See Section 4 below).
IASLC retains the right to change the membership fee you pay but will inform you about any such changes before they are implemented. IASLC retains the right to change the definition and eligibility criteria for any discounted rate; including but not limited to the Nurses & Allied Health Professionals and Developing Country categories. Currently, developing countries are those defined by IASLC, which correspond to the World Bank list of countries in the following income groups: low income, lower middle income and upper middle income, or those countries where GNI per capita was US$12,476 or less.
IASLC retains the right to offer and/or change any promotional offers and special prices but will inform members who may be affected of any such changes.
Section 3: Duration of Membership and Journal of Thoracic Oncology Subscription
Unless specified otherwise in a special promotion, IASLC Membership is valid through the end of each calendar year. Therefore, all memberships expire on December 31st of each year, regardless of the date of application and payment of member dues. Member Dues will be due for payment on January 1 of each year.
Your complimentary JTO subscription will be activated as soon as possible following receipt of your membership application and payment. However, due to administrative requirements and depending on the date your application is received, this time period may extend between 2-6 weeks. Once your subscription is active, you will have access to all historical online JTO articles. In addition, Regular members in non-developing countries will receive a print version of the JTO mailed to them for each month after they join or renew with IASLC. Back issues are not delivered.
Section 4: Termination of Membership
If you wish to discontinue your membership in IASLC, you can cancel your membership at any time by contacting IASLC at least one month before the membership renewal date. Membership will expire at the end of the annual year, and IASLC will not refund any fees already paid for the preceding period. Notification should be provided to IASLC by email at email@example.com by writing to: IASLC Headquarters, ATTN: Membership Department, 13100 East Colfax Avenue, Unit 10, Aurora, CO 80011, USA, or by faxing 720.325.2953.
Per the IASLC Bylaws, the membership of any regular member whose dues are more than 90 days overdue after having been sent at least three reminders shall be terminated without further notice.
Section 5: Reimbursement of Membership Fees or Other Payments
In the event of an error by IASLC at the time or member registration or payment, IASLC will refund the incorrectly-charged membership fees or other payment. Once membership application and payment have been processed by IASLC, resulting in benefits being administered to the member (such as activation of Journal of Thoracic Oncology subscription or receipt of conference discount), there will be no refund or reimbursement of the membership dues payment. IASLC will not refund any fees for the preceding period after termination of membership. Payments are not exchangeable, transferable, and may not be applied as credit to other products or services now, in the future, or toward past debts. This applies to all forms of payment whether online, paper, or otherwise paid for with a credit card, check, cash or wire transfer.
Section 6: Fraudulent Credit Card Charges or Fraudulent Claims
All requests to negate charges are fully investigated by our membership department with assistance by accounting and finance department, and reported to the credit card services and appropriate vendor(s) as appropriate.
