Social Media and the #WCLC2017
IASLC Communications Committee
The IASLC 18th World Conference on Lung Cancer (#WCLC2017) was attended by nearly 7,000 delegates, many of whom stopped by our social media booth. The booth was a hub of activity throughout the entire conference, with delegates coming by to learn more about social media, send their first tweet and take a picture in front of our backdrop featuring Mt Fuji. A large number of delegates also pinned their location to our map, which emphasized the global fight against lung cancer.
Images, observations and information from the conference were shared on a number of channels such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. On Twitter, over 1,500 individuals sent in excess of 8,000 tweets, which created more than 19 million impressions. The top 10 participants (as ranked by tweets, mentions and impressions) included patients and advocates, medical and radiation oncologists and researchers from across the globe. Many delegates also conversed with our featured social media voices over Twitter and in person. As we look back on a very busy year, we would like to thank everyone who took part in the conversation across the IASLC’s social media channels and helped make a great impact in raising awareness of lung cancer.
We look forward to engaging with even more of you during 2018 and at the IASLC 19th World Conference on Lung Cancer (#WCLC2018) in Toronto, Canada.

Members - It’s Almost Time to Renew Your Membership for 2018!
The IASLC has continued the three-year registration options for all categories (except complimentary Fellow Membership). Our three-year option "locks-in" the current membership rates. Regular members will save $150.00 over three years by selecting the Three-Year Membership option ($600.00). Developing Country Members and Allied Health Professionals can avoid potential future increases and not have to renew each year.
We encourage all members to renew early to ensure there is no interruption of benefits such as JTO delivery and online access. Please review the single-year and multi-year options available to you.

Welcome to All New IASLC Members!
The IASLC-led harmonized public awareness campaign for November's Lung Cancer Awareness Month (LCAM) has been running throughout the month. Some of the campaign's 2017 goals were to provide information to hospitals through coordinated media campaigns and create more international opportunities for interested parties to become involved.
The lung cancer community can participate in this initiative throughout the year by submitting personal stories to be included in the site. We encourage you to also follow the campaign-specific social media feeds we have established on Facebook and Twitter.
LCAM kicked off the month with a panel event at The National Press Club in Washington D.C. Panelists outlined the most pressing topics in lung cancer prevention and treatment, and their priorities for this November, focusing on better implementation of lung cancer screening guidelines, expanding knowledge of treatment options and growing patient participation in decision making and in clinical trials.
The LCAM website is a year-round resource to read stories of those affected by lung cancer. You can also sign up on the site to receive email updates about its continuing development and follow the campaign on Facebook and Twitter feeds.
If your organization would like to be a 2018 LCAM partner, please contact Kristin.Schultz@iaslc.org. Thank you to our partners who have recently joined the campaign, including the Polish Lung Cancer Group.
