Fred R. Hirsch

Chief Executive Officer

Fred R. Hirsch, MD, PhD, is a professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, U.S.A. His research interests include translational research, targeted therapies and early detection of lung cancer.

Dr. Hirsch holds a degree from the Copenhagen Business School, as well as a medical degree and doctorate from the University of Copenhagen. His specialty is medical oncology.  He became the CEO of IASLC in November 2013.

John Wetherington

Chief Operating and Financial Officer

John Wetherington is responsible for leading IASLC operations and managing financial and administrative functions for the organization. He has more than 20 years' experience in executive and financial leadership roles at nonprofit organizations. Prior to this he held management and marketing positions in the international financial services industry.

Pia Hirsch

Director of Education, Corporate Relations and Governance

Pia Hirsch joined the IASLC in 2003 and is responsible for corporate relations, including fundraising and arrangements of IASLC meetings, workshops and educational activities. She attended medical school at the University of Copenhagen and has a B.A. in Public Health Administration from Copenhagen Business School. She speaks Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, German, French and Hebrew. She is the IASLC staff liaison for the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Educational Committee and Awards Committee.

Kristin M. Richeimer

Director of Membership

Kristin Richeimer is responsible for increasing IASLC's membership and expanding the membership base to include new specialties and treatment providers from around the world.  She joined IASLC in 2010 after nearly nine years at USA Rugby. She has a bachelor's degree in German Language and Literature from the University of Pennsylvania, and speaks German and French.

Pamela Freelon

Membership Coordinator

Pamela Goens ensures accurate and efficient day-to-day operations within the membership department.

Before joining the IASLC in 2011, she coordinated medical education programs in pathology and radiology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She is studying business administration. She can be reached via email at Pamela.freelon@iaslc.org or by phone at 720-325-2956

Vengie Lau

Asia Support

Vengie Lau works out of the IASLC Asia Office. She provides support to the IASLC by seeking educational opportunities and corporate sponsorship in the region. Lau has a Masters in Biochemistry from the Chinese University in Hong Kong and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto.  

Rob Mansheim

Director of Communications

Rob Mansheim is responsible for directing the IASLC’s overall communications efforts including the creation, implementation and oversight of strategic communication initiatives and resource allocation in support of the IASLC communications strategy and also oversees media activities and special events. He joined IASLC in 2014 after 7 years in healthcare marketing. He has a master’s degree in Communication Arts: Advertising and Public Relations from the New York Institute of Technology and is pursuing his MPS in Strategic Public Relations from the George Washington University.

Paul Silvey

Education Programs Coordinator

Murry Wynes

Special Projects Manager

Murry supports the mission of the IASLC through project management, research and technical assistance related to the current science, advances and trends in thoracic malignancies, and helping define deliverables. He will additionally assist IASLC management develop means to improve content and distribution of its educational products and services to achieve the organization’s strategic goals. Murry brings to the IASLC a strong history in project and fiscal management, clinical, translational and basic research, as well as scientific writing and presentation.

Mary Sharkey

Managing Editor, JTO
