Multidisciplinary Clinical Science Committee

The Clinical Science Committee at the IASLC comprises leading experts and researchers in the field of clinical thoracic oncology who will tackle key scientific questions in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of thoracic malignancies worldwide.

Nominations are open to all disciplines. We encourage treating physicians (surgeons, medical oncologists, pulmonologists, radiologists) to apply. Members of the 2023-2025 Advanced Radiation Technology (ART) Committee are automatically members of the ART subcommittee, and no other members are required at this time.

Overview

Committee Responsibilities:  

  1. Identify and prioritize research areas and topics of significant clinical relevance in thoracic malignancies.  
  2. Promote collaboration and knowledge exchange among researchers and institutions globally.  
  3. Encourage the development of innovative research methodologies and approaches to improve clinical outcomes.  
  4. Foster partnerships to support research initiatives.  
  5. Promote patient recruitment and engagement in clinical trials through educational campaigns and advocacy.  
  6. Encourage data sharing and collaboration among researchers to enhance statistical power and derive meaningful insights.  
  7. Promote the utilization of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence techniques for data analysis.  
  8. Organize scientific meetings, symposia, and workshops to disseminate the latest research findings and advancements in thoracic oncology.  
  9. Develop educational resources, guidelines, and position papers to guide clinical practice and inform healthcare professionals, patients, and the public.  
  10. Collaborate with other IASLC committees and external organizations to deliver comprehensive educational programs and materials.  
  11. Foster mentorship programs to support early-career researchers and clinicians in the field of thoracic malignancies.
