IASLC Stands Together with Ukraine

IASLC Stands Together with Ukraine

Press Release
Mar 31, 2022

As an international society dedicated to the harmonious exchange of ideas and research and the pursuit of eradicating thoracic cancers worldwide, the IASLC stands together with all affected countries and individuals in the face of the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.

Our members, who live and work in virtually every country, including many countries affected by this aggression, fight each day for new treatments for lung cancer, a disease that kills more than 16,000 Ukrainians each year and approximately 1.8 million people worldwide. Supporting patients with cancer has been made more difficult by the danger and disruption caused by the invasion of Ukraine.

We advocate for a return to diplomacy and peace so that our European friends, colleagues, and patients with lung cancer and other thoracic cancers can begin to rebuild their cities, lives, and dreams for a healthier world without violence and bloodshed.

About the IASLC The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) is the only global organization dedicated solely to the study of lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies. Founded in 1974, the association's membership includes more than 7,500 lung cancer specialists across all disciplines in over 100 countries, forming a global network working together to conquer lung and thoracic cancers worldwide. The association also publishes the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, the primary educational and informational publication for topics relevant to the prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment of all thoracic malignancies.
