JTO Clinical and Research Reports Names Dr. Emily Stone New Editor-In-Chief

DENVER (Jan. 6, 2023) – The JTO Clinical and Research Reports has named Dr. Emily Stone as its new editor-in-chief. The JTO CCR is the official open-access journal of The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC).

Dr. Emily Stone

Dr. Stone is a consultant respiratory physician and head of Thoracic Medicine within the Department of Thoracic Medicine and Lung Transplantation at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, Australia, where she established a clinic to treat lung cancer. She is also the founding and immediate past chair of the St. Vincent’s Hospital Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary Team. 

Dr. Stone is the NSW Principal Investigator for the International Lung Screen Trial (ILST) investigating optimal strategies in low-dose CT screening for lung cancer and is CIB for the NHMRC-funded Care to Quit trial investigating smoking cessation in cancer clinics. She serves as the deputy board chair of the Thoracic Oncology Group of Australasia and the immediate past head of the APSR Lung Cancer Assembly and Group Head APSR. 

She has extensive journal editing experience, which includes past roles as associate editor of the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, associate editor of the Journal of Thoracic Oncology Clinical and Research Reports, and deputy editor of Respirology.

She earned a Ph.D. from the University of Sydney in Clinical Data Science in Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary Care, following a 2021 Master of Medicine from the University of Sydney in Pulmonary Fibrosis, Bleomycin, and Growth Factors. She served as a Fellow in the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and earned her MBBS from the University of Sydney in 1993.
