DENVER – Charles Rudin, MD, PhD, will be recognized by the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) with Paul A. Bunn, Jr. Scientific Award at the IASLC 2019 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in Barcelona, Spain. The award recognizes Dr. Rudin’s lifetime achievement in scientific contributions to thoracic cancer research.
Dr. Rudin is the Sylvia Hassenfeld Professor and chief of Thoracic Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), where he also co-directs the Druckenmiller Center for Lung Cancer Research. At MSKCC he oversees a broad and integrated program of preclinical and clinical research in lung cancer.
Dr. Rudin has an interest in small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and chairs the National Cancer Institute’s SCLC Research Consortium, a national network of investigators studying SCLC oncogenesis, mouse and human preclinical modeling, genomic and epigenetic drivers and therapeutic vulnerabilities. He also serves as the MSK Primary Investigator for two Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) grants.
Dr. Rudin will be honored on Sept. 7, 2019 at the Opening Ceremony of the IASLC 2019 WCLC in Barcelona, Spain. The IASLC WCLC is the world’s largest meeting dedicated to lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies, attracting more than 7,000 researchers, physicians and specialists from more than 100 countries.
