Dear Colleagues:
Since the last Newsletter several important things have happened;
After successful meetings on lung cancer biology (with AACR) in San Diego and on Targeted Therapies in Santa Monica, we are now looking forward to see many of you in Geneva next week to the IASLC/ESMO Lung Cancer Meeting.

December 2009

Important decisions were made at the last Board of Directors meeting in California, November 1-2, 2009. After long strategic discussions and evaluation, the Board of Directors decided to establish an independent permanent headquarters established in Denver, Colorado. The Board of Directors is currently with the help of an external company planning the infrastructure necessary to operate this headquarters. The establishment of the headquarters in Denver is expected to be completed by July 2010. At the same time the Board of Directors is considering to establishing regional offices. The IASLC members can send questions, comments or concerns to the IASLC Office.

October 2009

Dear Colleagues:
New IASLC Fellowships are now available for applications (see below). The Fellowships will be announced both in Japanese and Chinese, and we hope to see more applications from Asian Countries and Australia than before.

September 2009

The IASLC world Conference on Lung Cancer was a historical success with more than 6000 participants. A great thanks to the Conference co-chairs, Drs. David Gandara and Dr. David Jablons and the Scientific co-chair Dr. Giorgio Scagliotti as well as the members of the Educational and Scientific Committees for the tremendous work they put into this conference and for the very exciting program. While this event now goes into the IASLC history, we are now planning for Amsterdam 2011 and Sydney 2013.
For the 16th World Conference 2015 the IASLC Board of Directors has chosen Denver, Colorado, US.

May 2009

Since last Newsletter several important things have happened within IASLC. Six IASLC Fellowships/Young Investigators Awards have been awarded from many applications from all over the world. The awardees and institutions are mentioned below. More than 1400 abstracts have been submitted for the World Conference on Lung Cancer in San Francisco, 2009, and the review is currently ongoing.

The 1st ASTRO/IASLC/University of Chicago, ASCO Multidisciplinary Symposium in Thoracic Oncology was recently held in Chicago, November 13-15, 2008.
